MQM cancels protests, calls emergency meeting of workers

Staff Report KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has directed its workers to cancel all scheduled protest demonstrations in Karachi and attend an emergency meeting this evening, SAMAA reports Tuesday. On Monday, hundreds of MQM workers gathered outside the Karachi Press Club and protested against PTI chief Imran Khan who blamed the killing of his local party leader, Zehra Shahid Hussain, on MQM chief Altaf Hussain. MQM also sue Imran Khan for Rs50 billion for defaming Altaf Hussain. The PTI also staged counter protests in Karachi, demanding arrest of Shahid’s killers. In a statement on Tuesday, MQM said that Altaf Hussain has summoned an emergency meeting of workers at Lal Qila Ground at 6pm today, and directed party activists to cancel today’s protest demonstrations. -- SAMAA
